As a preview for FotoForum in Bolzen, the photographer Vincenzo Pagliuca presents a selection of 31 photographs taken in South Tyrol between 2018 and 2021. The exhibition includes a text of mine which briefly introduces its horizon. Vincenzo Pagliuca explores this heritage's educational value, which has its roots in a dramatic chapter in the history of Europe and the potential metamorphoses in the future. From the organic one that leaves to nature the task of hiding the tragedy in the vegetal oblivion of time to that of the Promethean will that bends even the bunkers to new functions, new life, to an end that is always and wholly human. And more, the conservation, which manifests architectural elements and enhances their beauty as a heroic act, up to the bunkers as they are, with no upper hand over history but hard memory and, therefore, meditation.

Hi! I am Steve, a professional in the field of photography and visual arts, with a background as a curator, art director, and educator.
Venetian on my father’s side, with a French surname that dates back to Napoleon’s campaigns, and a soldier from around Montpellier. My mother was born in Belgium to a Dutch family. My grandfather from Hoboken, New Jersey, on the Hudson River. I grew up a bit here and there; I currently live in Paris.
I have known the world before smartphones, computers, and the internet. Before low-cost flights. The backseat of my father's car was my window. Studies pushed me to embrace complexity, a quite observation. A gaze that "touches," that dares in some way, that strives to forge a connection.
I spent the past 20 years questioning the role of images in society.
