Since 2021, together with Patrizia Boschiero (coordinator of the Carlo Scarpa Prize and chief editor of the Benetton Foundation) and Lab27, I have coordinated "Publishing and landscape: contemporary photography as research," an annual cycle of public meetings dedicated to the dialogue between the landscape and contemporary photography in the publishing field. The II edition debated editorial projects that use the photographic medium in the context of territorial study practices and its representation. These are different projects and books: from the architecture, arts, and theory magazine to the exhibition catalog, from the author's monograph to the research volume. A range of methods and points of view testify to the design potential of photography when it intersects the themes of the landscape. The I edition focuses on three editorial case studies that have examined territories, histories, and visions of Northern Italy with distinct methodologies and styles. Contradictions and environmental degradation sometimes mark landscapes, yet they are full of potential creative actions connected to the gaze and its reception. Among the appointments the photographers Ziyah Gafić, Davide Degano, Mufoco Museum in Milan, Matteo Balduzzi and Claudio Borchia, the artist Filippo Minelli, La Terra di Sotto (Luca Quagliato and Luca Rinaldi).

Hi! I am Steve, a professional in the field of photography and visual arts, with a background as a curator, art director, and educator.
I’m a “mestizo,” as they say—Venetian on my father’s side, with a French surname that dates back to Napoleon’s campaigns, and a soldier from around Montpellier. My mother was born in Belgium to a Dutch family. My grandfather from Hoboken, New Jersey, on the Hudson River. I grew up a bit here and there; I currently live in Paris.
I have known the world before smartphones, computers, and the internet. Before low-cost flights. The backseat of my father's car was my window. Studies pushed me to embrace complexity, a quite observation. A gaze that "touches," that dares in some way, that strives to forge a connection.
I spent the past 20 years questioning the role of images in society.
